Jason Caplan, born in London 1970, lived mostly in New York 1977-2006 when he returned to England. Started painting in early teens. Studied at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts 1989-91. Graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts at Tufts University 1993. Subsequently studied at Cooper Union (collage techniques, water colour and pastels), the School of Visual Arts (computer graphics), the Parsons School of Design (computer art and graphics) and the Art Students' League (painting and drawing), New York.

Exhibited in group shows at the School of Visual Arts Gallery New York 1986, the Boston Museum School of Drawing Exhibition 1991, the Boston Museum School Alumni Exhibition 1994, The Painting Centre New York 1994, the Art Students' League New York 1998.

Influenced by De Kooning, Gorky and Egon Schiele. Considers himself to be an expressionist working mostly in oil, charcoal and water colour on paper or canvas.
