- Richard Willis 1924-. Two paintings hung in R.A. 1941. Educated at Harrow and then joined RNVR (combined operations). Landed American tanks on D-Day 1944 - wounded - posted to Italy. Will be showing Marine paintings and landscapes.

Richard Willis
Born in London 1924
Educated at Harrow 1937-42
1942 - Joined R.N.V.R (for a period, slung a hammock on HMS Victory) Served in Destroyers and Tank-Landing craft, landing American Tanks on Omaha. Then a spell in hospital before being posted to Italy.
1946 - Returned to civilian life - enrolled at the art department at Reading University to correct bad habits and replace with others.
1948 - Married Diana Bateman, daughter of cartoonist H.M.Bateman. Leased a shop in Bath and dealt in Old and Modern paintings.
1957 - Moved to Somerset. Four children, all living in Somerset, two also artists.
Exhibited paintings at summer exhibition of the Royal Academy, London in 1941 (aged 17). Works in private and public collections in Britain and elsewhere. Sculpture: Brussels (Bank Lambert), Birmingham, Glasgow and Cheltenham.
