Further Info

Alan has been working in glass professionally for sixteen years. Born in Yorkshire, he lives and works in Somerset with his wife and two children.

Alan spent fifteen years in the computing industry while trying to be: a photographer, a painter, theatre producer, traveller, and Open University student.

During this time he discovered stained glass and trained in London. Now living and working from Wells in Somerset he produces a variety of products in glass including:

  • interior and exterior panels
  • lamps
  • lanterns and
  • mirrors and more…

These use either traditional leaded glass or copper foil or both. He primarily uses coloured glass rather than painted glass, preferring the deep colours created by the minerals within the glass.

Alan produces work in both traditional and contemporary styles specialising in commissions for people who want an interesting or even spectacular front door panel, or something to make their conservatory individual and special. He often uses myths and legends for inspiration.

Panels are usually designed and made to order. The smaller copper foiled articles can be bought all year round at galleries in Somerset. He also carries out repairs and recreates lost or missing panels.

Alan's workshop is at 16 Silver Street, Wells, BA5 1UN, but please contact him first to check he’ll be there.
