She spends a great deal of time in natural surroundings, walking dogs and horse riding where she is constantly inspired. She sees how shapes found naturally have so many similarities to the human form. When she then works with her medium she can really sense nature and human shapes merging.
Once clay has been fired, it has an immense solidity and strength. Deborah’s aim whilst the clay is still flexible is to capture movement within each composition, as it is built.
The natural substance of clay is her ideal medium to complement the contours created.
