Guides Herald Explosion of the Arts...
Wed, 1st August 2007
Arts lovers across Somerset and into Devon can now plan ahead for a feast of the arts, with the arrival this week of the 10 Parishes Festival Guide.
Over 20,000 copies were delivered hot off the press to the Wiveliscombe Community Office, for distribution across the county at Tourist Information Centres, libraries, shops, exhibitions including the Taunton Flower Show and more.
The 42 page Festival Guide gives a detailed rundown on over 150 exciting arts and community events taking place during the 10 Parishes Festival, which runs from September 8 – 16.
And it’s designed to keep afterwards as a complete reference directory of the many artists and craftspeople working throughout the year in the 10 Parishes area around Wiveliscombe.
“There’s a fantastic wealth of artistic talent in this area and this third 10 Parishes Festival is more exciting than ever with over 100 artists, craftspeople and performers taking part,” said Pauline Homeshaw, Festival Director.
“It’s a wonderful chance to see all kinds of art and for people to also come along and have a great deal of fun.”
Artists from ceramicists to sculptors, painters to photographers, will be exhibiting at a wide variety of open studios and galleries, while all kinds of exciting community arts events are also planned.
These include everything from a Festival of Silent Cinema in Wiveliscombe to an Environmental Arts Day in Stawley, from a Combined Music Workshop and Performance in Clatworthy to a Creative Writing Project at Brompton Ralph, from a Festival Market to a Musical Tea Party – and much more.
All the information is in the Festival Guide, designed by Wiveliscombe-based Dave Meehan and Melanie Deegan of Replicated Solutions, with support from Taunton Deane Tourism Unit.
Guides are now available from the Wiveliscombe Community Office, libraries, shops and Tourist Information Centres throughout the area. Alternatively the guide can be downloaded from this website, or you can request a copy by emailing info@10parishesfestival.org.uk, or telephoning 01984 624564.
